We look forward to welcoming students to Ashdale Secondary College for the 2021 school year. Below is some information to prepare for the first day of school.

2021 First Day of School

Students should arrive at the College at 8.30 am on Monday 1 February.  There will be year group assemblies on the first day to welcome all students to the college and students will be introduced to their mentor teachers and issued with timetables. Staff will be directing students to their assembly locations. Click here for a map of the assembly locations.

  • Year 7 – Year 7 Area
  • Year 8 – Quad (front of Cafe)
  • Year 9 – In between Block 7 and Block 3
  • Year 10 – Front of Block 8
  • Year 11 – Quad (end of Block 5/6)
  • Year 12 – Quad (grassed area front of staffroom)

First Day of school – pick up and drop off

If you are dropping your child/ren off to the College, there are three designated drop-off pull-ins available on Westport Parade, Macdonagh Avenue and Carlingford Drive. Please DO NOT stop in the middle of the road or enter the Staff & Visitors carpark. To reduce risk to students, there is no parent access to the staff car park on Westport Parade. This carpark is not designed as a collection or drop-off point for students. We must ensure the safety of children and the continual movement of traffic.

There is no need for parents to come into the foyer, however, if students are anxious and parents would like to come into the foyer to meet with staff prior to the assembly they are welcome.

What to bring

Students should bring one file, notebooks, pencil cases and their electronic device on the first day (in addition to recess, lunch and bottled water). Year 7 students will be released from classes five minutes early at recess and lunch for priority access to the Café.

Student Mobile Phones

Student mobile phones are to be turned off and placed in bags from the first siren until the end of the school day. This is in line with Ashdale Secondary College’s ICT Usage Policy and the Department of Education’s Student Mobile Phones in Public Schools policy.
