the ashdale community

Building strong connections

Strong connections with our local community enhance the educational experience, and we actively engage with families, local organisations, and community members. Through various initiatives, events, and partnerships, we strive to create a collaborative atmosphere that supports our students’ development and well-being. Together, we celebrate achievements and empower the next generation to thrive within and beyond our College walls.

community engagement

Ashdale Secondary College Board’s fundamental purpose is to enable parents and community members to engage in activities that are in the best interests of students and to enhance the education provided by the College. Their functions are covered by legislation, and the elected members include parents, staff and students. Community members are invited to join to add depth of knowledge to the Board.

The functions of Boards are prescribed by the School Education Act 1999 and the School Education Regulations 2000 as follows:

Take part in:

  • Establishing and reviewing the College’s objectives, priorities and general policy directions
  • Planning financial arrangements necessary to fund those objectives, priorities and directions
  • Evaluating the College’s performance in achieving those objectives, priorities and directions
  • Formulating Codes of Conduct for students at the College
  • The selection of, but not the appointment of, the school principal or any other member of the teaching staff if the Regional Executive Director gives prior approval

Approve of:

  • A charge or contribution determined by the Principal for the provision of materials, services and facilities.
  • The costs determined by the Principal are to be paid for participation in an extra cost optional component of the College’s educational program.
  • The items selected by the Principal are to be supplied by a student for the student’s personal use in the College’s educational program.

Ashdale Secondary College is one of six schools committed to a learning environment focused on improving student outcomes across the Ashdale Cluster. The Ashdale Cluster Board supports these six schools (Ashdale SC, Ashdale Primary School, Madeley Primary School, Landsdale Primary School, Carnaby Rise Primary School and Landsdale Gardens Primary School) to establish and review a Cluster Strategic Plan, support collaborative initiatives and strategies, monitor and review the Cluster’s performance and promote the Cluster within the community. Principals from all six schools and their Board Chairs are members of the Cluster Board.

The P&C Association is open to all parents and guardians of students attending the College and all citizens within the College community. We promote the interests of the College by bringing parents, citizens, students and teaching staff into close cooperation and by raising funds to provide facilities and equipment for the College. During the meetings, we discuss College programs and members are fully informed of what is happening at the College.

Meetings are usually held in the third week of each Term and are advertised on the website calendar and the College’s Facebook page. All parents, guardians and community members are welcome to attend the meetings. Please come along to support the school and help provide the best possible education for your child. P&C membership only costs $1 annually and entitles members to vote on P&C initiatives. One such initiative is the P&C Scholarship Program.

Ashdale Alumni

Post- School Destinations Survey

What have you achieved?

Maintaining contact with Ashdale Secondary College’s alumni is crucial for understanding and enhancing the impact of our educational programs. By staying connected, we can track the achievements and career paths of our former students, providing valuable insights into the effectiveness of our curriculum and support services. There are opportunities for alums to be called upon to provide insight into their professional lives so that current students benefit from their experience.

We invite all alumni to complete our post-school destination survey, which aims to monitor trends in education, training, and employment after graduation. Your participation will help us examine these trends and better support future students in their educational and career journeys.
