LEARNING AND STUDENT ENGAGEMENT
Learning outside of the Classroom
At Ashdale Secondary College, clubs and activities offer students more than just fun—they provide a richer educational experience. These opportunities foster community, build skills, and encourage personal growth. Students enhance their teamwork, leadership, and creativity by participating while forming lasting friendships and discovering new interests.
STUDENT ENGAGEMENT
Clubs and Activities
Ashdale Secondary College strongly focuses on supporting student well-being and providing opportunities for students to engage in exciting activities. The number of clubs and activities offered at lunchtime continues to grow, with student voice allowing students to have a say in the types of clubs available. The College is always open to new club ideas from our students!

CLUBS AND ACTIVITIES
Breakfast Club
In 2019, Ashdale Secondary College launched its Breakfast Club. Thanks, in part, to the generous support of Darch Bakery and Wanneroo Uniforms, we can provide complimentary breakfast in cosy surroundings for all our students. The Club runs from 7.45 am until 8.30 am every morning. It offers a variety of self-service food: Milo, hot chocolate, fruit juice, and toast with spreads including butter, jam, honey, cheese, and Vegemite. There is always plenty of fruit and even tasty sweet surprises such as pastries and healthy cupcakes – and it is all FREE to ensure not a single Ashdale student needs to start the day hungry.
Bowls of fruit are also available throughout the school day at Student Services for anyone who misses the Breakfast Club! Many staff give up their morning lie-ins to ensure everything runs smoothly, which is another example of how wonderful a College we have.
Sandwich Station
The Breakfast Club has a ‘Sandwich Station’. This initiative offers students who have forgotten their lunch the opportunity to make a sandwich (meats, cheeses, sauces, coleslaw, and spreads will be available), grab a piece of fruit, and other items, including a muesli bar and a bottle of water, every Monday. A biodegradable bag for carrying food will also be available.
Just to be clear, this initiative is not a supplement for students who already have lunches, and it’s not a way to spend their money on non-essential items. Its sole purpose is to assist students who have forgotten their lunch, are in a rush, and have run out of time to prepare anything. We aim to ensure that no student at Ashdale Secondary College goes through the school day without adequate sustenance.
The generous support of Ashdale’s P&C has made this exciting initiative possible and allows us to continue operating in the heart of our local community while ensuring student well-being.
