STUDENT LEADERSHIP
Un1ty - Leading as One
Un1ty’s principle focus – to unite the whole student leadership team to work collaboratively and cohesively and provide a platform for students to engage in ideas and opportunities with the voice, face, and heart of the College available to them. In the coming years, Un1ty intends to serve the student body of Ashdale Secondary College by promoting the unification of the Student Leadership opportunities hosted by the College and by building a system through which students can work together to maximise their impact as leaders of a positive future.
Un1ty Leadership Program consists of:
Student Leaders
Student Leaders are the ‘face’ of the College who are ambassadors that represent the College throughout the year by planning, leading and executing activities/events to support College initiatives, whilst providing support and guidance to fellow members of the Un1ty Leadership Team.Â
Lead Mentor Captains
Lead Mentor Captains are the ‘voice’ of the College who lead, inspire and motivate Mentor Captains within their cohort to develop a strong ‘student voice’.Â
Lead House Captains
Lead House Captains are the ‘heart’ of the College who inspire and motivate House Captains to develop strong ‘school spirit’ through leading, planning and promoting House activities within their House and cohort whilst supporting the House Captains.Â

The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award

The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award
Ashdale Secondary College has a strong focus on instilling teaching, learning and leadership skills within the youth of society. The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award is a highly regarded Framework for creating ‘future-ready citizens’ by developing confidence, teamwork, communication, and perseverance to equip our students for life.
The Duke of Edinburgh’s Framework is a leading structured youth development accreditation, designed to empower all young Australians between the ages of 14 to 24 to explore their full potential and achieve personal goals in community service, fitness, skills development, and adventure. It is a fully inclusive curriculum that has no social, political, or religious affiliations. The program is non-competitive and encourages registered users to step outside their comfort zones, develop resilience and gain a sense of achievement. Students self-manage their process through an Online Record Book, where they can set up tailored activities, keep records, upload evidence, and submit assessor reports.
The program is open to qualified* members of the Un1ty Leadership Team.Â
*Members of the Un1ty team aged 14 and above.
